Gunpowder tè verde...

Il tè verde più bevuto al mondo, che unisce il gusto fresco e leggero alle proprietà salutari. Il nome originario, perle di tè, rimanda all'aspetto delle foglie arrotolate. Sembra che il tè verde Gunpowder sia stato prodotto per la prima volta in Cina, nella provincia di Zhejiang, durante la dinastia Tang (618 – 907 d.C.). Originariamente chiamato tè perlato , o zhu cha , il tè Gunpowder è rapidamente diventato uno più apprezzati dagli amanti del tè. Sembra che il nome Gunpowder sia stato dato nel XVIII secolo da un impiegato britannico che notò la somiglianza delle foglie con i granelli della polvere da sparo; all’inizio le foglie di tè verdi venivano raccolte a mano, appassite per rimuoverne l’umidità, vaporizzate e poi arrotolate in piccoli granuli. Tutto il procedimento veniva fatto a mano, con grande attenzione e perizia, in modo da non rompere le preziose foglie. Lo speciale trattamento cui è sottoposto, il 'firing', elimina l'umidità e ferma il processo di ossidazione conferendogli lo speciale gusto e aroma. Dal sapore fresco, fruttato, presenta un basso contenuto di teina : contiene meno caffeina di altri tè essendo composto anche di foglie più grosse e piccoli rametti. Banch Cherry, come la maggior parte dei té verdi, dovrebbe essere infuso in acqua a 80°C, temperatura minore rispetto ai té neri o Oolong che richiedono 95°C.
